Brake rotors convert kinetic energy into heat through friction. If that heat cannot escape, brake fade follows. That is why almost all heavy-duty commercial vehicles use ventilated rotors.
A ventilated rotor has two braking surfaces separated by internal vanes. As the wheel spins, air flows through the vanes and carries heat away. This is essential for loaded trucks and buses that generate enormous heat during repeated downhill braking.
Cross-drilled: Holes drill through the rotor to release gas and dust. Good for performance vehicles but can crack under heavy commercial use.
Slotted: Slots wipe the pad surface and remove gas without weakening the rotor. Preferred for heavy-duty fleet use.
Solid plain: The most common and durable choice for European truck disc brakes. We supply plain ventilated rotors that match OE dimensions exactly.
Replace when: minimum thickness (stamped on the hub) is reached, there is severe rust or cracking, or run-out causes vibration. At SAITE we pressure-test and run-out check every rotor before shipment.
Send us your OE number or drawing. We will match the dimensions exactly.
